Default N/Mo Spiteful Spirit

Is the only way to play spiteful spirit build ,with a monk secondary profession, with this build http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...ide-id1853.php
Or is there another build that I'm not aware of?

SS is a very good elite skill; and there are 10000 ways to use it; just open your mind.

Um that link, links back to a guide on solo farming with an N/Mo. Most of that doesn't actually apply to current builds simply because,PVE skill power creep and the UW update have really changed things.

Have a look through here.

Welcome to Guild Wars and all but, if you're thinking like that, you're playing Guild Wars wrong.

The PvX link shows already how many Necro bars you can run. You are absolutely not limited to only 1 build or only 1 elite to choose. Ok, there are tons of skills to choose from and the lack of ballancing all the skills, they're left very little to choose from (known as the meta; skills/builds that are popular simply because there is nothing better). Which is what I'd not call Spiteful Spirit, because Spoil Victor pumps more damage imo, also the energy costs limits your choice of other skills (forces, you to take some e-management).

Also, don't read any of those guides because they're completely outdated. Except for the profession guides that at least provide some general tips. Just ignore skill suggestions because things have come along way since then (there's even a table in the monk guide for e-management using mantra of recall.... rofl, old news).

SV does not pump more damage than SS ever. SV reaches a plateau, where the single hexed foe cannot take more damage from it once it reaches the caster's health. SS carries through and can produce multiple kills itself with one cast.

SS only works because we allow it to. We allow SS to activate on foes through auto attack and skill activation.
Now i'm not sure, but Panic mesmers cancel out the SS damage from interrupted skills, it's why i've stopped using an SS hero.
HM foes casually stroll around with 700-800+ HP, which guarantees SV hits 2 or 3 times, which at 12 Blood is 255 damage. Now lets compare it to SS, at 12 curses, SS will have to trigger 9 times in order to do more damage than that.
The only positive SS has is that it hexes adjacent foes.
Plus, the barbed signet meta suggests that the blood magic attribute is great pressure, especially if the mob is panicked as well.

Compare 16 Blood to 16 Curses.
3 triggers of SV = 105*3 = 315
SS does 37 AoE per trigger. On a single target that's 8.5 triggers to match SV so 9 triggers to go over.
Of course, SS is AoE and Curses has more useful things in it than Blood. As soon as SS is hitting three enemies or more, it outperforms SV.

But it's a moot point; if you are capable of killing the enemy then neither skill is going to achieve these levels of damage.

I'm sorry, but blood as a line is terrible, and has been since they changed soul reaping. Soul Leech would be better in general pvp than Spoil Victor, and it gets its behind kicked by most of the mesmer line. I use to love the Blood line, but it simply doesn't do enough to belong in general pvp any more. And SV simply cannot beat SS/Reckless Haste/Price Of Failure.

Now Blood has some uses in some specialized builds, but really you need to build a team around it.

This is Campfire. In general, PvE is the context of discussion here.
That doesn't change much though; Blood in PvE has only one use and that requires a bit of building around (although stacking physicals is very easy).

Although on the subject in Blood Magic in PvP; I see more Blood Necs than I do Curses Necs pretty much anywhere.

Sorry for being nooby but I just want to start out with a build and slowly experiment with it and later move on to other builds, so I'll keep in mind all of your advice

i didnt read much of the thread, but unless you're using Arcane Echo, you dont even need a Secondary

I run YMLAD, SS, Insidious Parasite, Necrosis, Mark of Pain, Signet of Lost Souls, and Pain Inverter

12+1+1 curses, 12+1 Soul Reaping

works completely fine for me

Imo SS is very good all-round skill that will let you put on double roles if needed. It can dish out good dmg but if your team really really need someone to cast frozen soil, someone to remove conditions or somone to cast splinter, that can be you too at the same time.

Hmm if y ou look for a variabel and good damagedealing SS build, den just use this:

| Spiteful Spirit | mark of pain | necrosis | ebon vanguard assassin support | signet of lost souls | buh | variabel |variabel |

Yeah, i use Buh as a rezz but you can replace it with every useful PvEskill

the 2 variabels can be filled with: spirit rift + ancestors rage or with clumsines and wandering eye.

________

The build deals heavy AoE-dmg exspeccially used with a frontliner or frontline minions and it got good single target dmg.

Probably a 40/40 Curses set to increase your chances of casting more Spiteful Spirits.

You won't be solowing the UW with either of these builds as I've already said. If a Dying Nightmare spawn doesn't kill you, Skeletal (Skeleton?) Splinters will.
